CHALLENGE

To improve health equity in the Pittsburgh region, the Duquesne University School of Pharmacy launched the Center for Integrative Health, a new academic research center affiliated with the School of Pharmacy, in 2019. I worked with the Director of the Center for Integrative Health, senior leadership, and internal teams to create a brand identity and build brand awareness throughout Pittsburgh and the surrounding region.

STRATEGY

Being a community-facing organization, the Center for Integrative Health needed marketing collateral, promotional items and apparel created. I created digital assets for the Center for Integrative Health, including a website, social media posts and more. Additionally, I created branded items for Center for Integrative Health staff expected to go out into the community and promotional items to give out to community members at events.

Finally, I organized photoshoots and a promotional video shoot to share with local and regional news outlets before and after newsworthy events.

RESULTS

The Center for Integrative Health attracted local and regional media attention and earned placement in various outlets including the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, WPXI and WTAE and received heavy promotion from the main Duquesne University channels, especially when staffing COVID-19 vaccination clinics for medically underserved populations throughout the Pittsburgh area. The Center for Integrative Health quickly gained recognition throughout the Pittsburgh area thanks in part to a loose affiliation with the proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine and regularly raises over $1MM in grant funding annually, serving as a model for future health centers in medically underserved areas.
