#SpotlightSeries: Tiffany Hatcher

The Duquesne University School of Pharmacy Kappa Epsilon chapter served as the host and helped plan the Kappa Epsilon National Convention and 100th Anniversary Celebration in Pittsburgh in July. Nearly 150 members from across the country attended.

A continuing education presentation on diversity, inclusion and equity led by Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice Tiffany Hatcher, Pharm.D., called “Building Bridges: Improving Patient Outcomes, Diversifying Our Profession & Addressing Health Disparities” highlighted the continuing education presentations offered throughout the weekend. Tiffany and Kappa Epsilon hope to give student pharmacists and recent graduates the knowledge and skills needed to help improve diversity and inclusion in the organization and the pharmacy industry.

“Students possess an authentic passion and excitement for the profession,” Tiffany said. “It’s contagious and keeps me motivated. When students experience challenges, I try my best to remind of that passion and excitement in order to overcome bumps in the road.”

In addition to her faculty position, Tiffany serves as the Coordinator for Diversity and Inclusion for the School of Pharmacy. Born out of the Spiritan brotherhood, embracing different cultures has always been a part of the Duquesne University and School of Pharmacy mission, which is part of what led Tiffany to the university.

“The chance to join a faith-based institution to teach and promote the profession of pharmacy was a great opportunity,” Tiffany said. “The Duquesne University School of Pharmacy has a well-established and connected alumni network ready to assist student pharmacist on their journey.”
